Helpful Tips
Purchase a rechargeable Nol card to pay for Dubai Metro, buses, trams, and water taxis.
Use the Careem or Uber apps for convenient ride-hailing across the Emirates.
The Dubai Metro Red Line connects the airport terminals to key areas like Downtown Dubai and Dubai Marina.
For inter-emirate travel, consider the comfortable and frequent coach services operated by companies like RTA.
Common Scams to Avoid
UAE airports have documented issues with unofficial taxi drivers soliciting arrivals in the terminal, offering 'fixed rates' that are significantly inflated. Use only the official taxi queue with metered fares, or book through the airport's authorized ride-hailing kiosks.
A known tactic involves individuals posing as airport or hotel staff, offering 'assistance' with luggage or transport and then demanding exorbitant fees. Politely decline unsolicited help and proceed directly to official information desks or pre-booked transport counters.
While not unique to the UAE, currency exchange counters in arrival areas sometimes offer poor rates or add hidden fees. Avoid exchanging money at the first counter you see. Compare rates or use ATMs for better value, as this is a common airport issue worldwide.
